A long -awaited race between Pakistan and India at the current World Legendary Championship (WCL) was canceled on Sunday due to escalating tensions between the two countries, the tournament organizers confirmed.
In a statement issued in Birmingham, WCL’s management expressed its regret for canceling the equipment scheduled to take place today. While no specific reason was mentioned, the organizers recognized the frustration caused to the fans and shared details of the decision on a position on the social media platform.
“After hearing the news that Pakistan’s Hockey team would come to India this year and see India’s recent match against Pakistan Volleyball along with some other fixtures between the two nations in different sports, we thought of continuing to continue with the WCL.
“But maybe in the process, we ended up hurting the feelings of many and mixing emotions,” the organizers added, also apologizing for the “inadvertent causing discomfort” to the legends of the Indian cricket.
“Therefore, we decided to retire from India-Pakistan’s struggle. We sincerely apologize again to hurt the feelings and hope that people will understand that all we wanted was to bring some happy moments to the fans.”
Fans who bought tickets for the race have secured complete returns, the statement said.

According to sources, tensions were escalated after a supposed demand to exclude the former Pakistani Captain Shahid Afridi from the XI game. Indian players Shikhar Dhawan and Harbhajan Singh opposed the match, leading to further friction. The Indian media has also questioned the necessity of organizing the race under the current geopolitical climate, urging the organizers to call it.
The second edition of the Cricket Board Championship (ECB), started July 18 on July 18 at Edgbaston. Pakistan’s team, led by Shahid Afridi, characterizes former stars such as Younis Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz and Kamran Akmal. The side, led by Mohammad Hafeez in their opening race, had won England earlier.
India champions are led by the winner of the Yuvraj Singh World Cup and include remarkable names such as Dhawan, Harbhajan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and Varun Aaron.
The rest of the tournament will continue according to the timetable. Each of the six participating teams will play each other once before the top four go to the semifinals on July 31, with the final set for August 2. The matches will be played in Birmingham, Northampton, Leicester and Leeds.
However, it remains unclear what the organizers will decide if India and Pakistan have to meet the knockout stages again.

Relations between the two countries remain strained. After a terrorist attack on Pahalgam in April, tensions have been furious, briefly affecting the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
India is not involved in bilateral sports ties with Pakistan, with cricket meetings between the two sides now confined to ICC tournaments such as the World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
A hybrid model of hospitality was introduced during this year’s Trophy Champions, where India played its Games in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament took place in Pakistan. A similar model is available for the upcoming Women’s World Cup, with Pakistan planning to play all his Colombo matches, as India and Sri Lanka host the event.
Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds the Asian Men’s Cup, scheduled for September in T20 form, as the space for a possible India-Pakistan conflict has not yet been confirmed.
