The US is proposing a 60 -day gauze cease, hostage exchange plan

The US is proposing a 60 -day gauze cease, hostage exchange plan
Listen to the article

The American plan for Gaza, which saw Reuters on Friday, proposes a 60 -day ceasefire and the release of 28 Israeli hostages – alive and dead – in the first week, in return for the release of 1,236 Palestinian prisoners and 180 ruins.

The document, which says the plan is guaranteed by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian and Qatar mediators, includes the mission of humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as Hamas signs the ceasefire.

Help will be delivered by the United Nations, Red Crescent and other agreed channels.

The White House said on Thursday that Israel has agreed with a US fire cease proposal.

Israeli media said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told hostage families in Gaza that Israel had accepted the agreement presented by Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. The prime minister’s office refused to comment.

Hamas said she had received the Israeli response to the proposal, which said that “it did not respond to any of the fair and legal demands of our people”, including the immediate cessation of hostilities and the end of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Hamas’ official Basem Naim said the Israeli response “is fundamentally seeking to consolidate occupation and perpetuates the policies of murder and hunger, even during what is supposed to be a period of temporary escalation”.

However, he said that the Hamas leadership conducted a “detailed and responsible review of the new proposal”.

The American plan provides for Hamas to release in the last 30 of the 58 that remain Israeli hostage as soon as a permanent ceasefire has come into force. Israel will also stop all military operations in Gaza as soon as the truce has come into force, it shows.

The Israeli army will also remodel its troops gradually.

The deep differences between Hamas and Israel have prevented previous attempts to restore a ceasefire that broke in March.

Israel insisted that Hamas is completely dismissing, disassembled as a military and government force, and will return all 58 hostages that are still being held in Gaza before agreeing to end the war.

Hamas rejected the request to abandon its weapons and says that Israel must pull its troops from Gaza and commit to ending the war.

Israel began its campaign in Gaza in response to Hamas’ attack on the south on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and saw 251 Israelis being hostage in Gaza, according to Israeli battles.

The subsequent Israeli military campaign killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, Gaza officials say and left the enclave in ruins.

Pressure pressure

Israel has undergone increasing international pressure, with many European countries that usually hesitate to openly criticize the ending of war and a significant relief effort.

The United Nations Bureau to Coordinate Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Friday that Israel is blocking everything besides humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, with almost no food ready to enter what its spokesman described as “more hungry”.

Witkoff told reporters on Wednesday that Washington was close to “sending a new sheet of terms” for a ceasefire on both sides of the conflict.

“I have some very good feelings to get to long -term resolution, temporary cease and long -term resolution, a peaceful resolution of this conflict,” Witkoff then said.

The 60 -day cease, according to the plan, can be extended if the negotiations for permanent ceasefire are not completed within the specified period.

Hamas senior official Sami Abu Zuhri said on Thursday that the terms of the proposal had repeated Israel’s position and did not contain commitments to end the war, withdraw Israeli troops or assumption of help.

Distribution

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a private group supported by the United States and approved by Israel, said it had distributed more than 1.8 million meals a total of more than 1.8 million meals this week and expanded to distribute aid to a third area in Gaza on Thursday. GHF plans to open more sites in the coming weeks.

The team, strongly criticized by the United Nations and other assistance groups as inadequate and incorrect, began its operation in Gaza this week, where the UN said 2 million people were in danger of hunger after an 11 -week -old blockage from Israel to enter the Squadron.

There were noisy scenes on Tuesday, as thousands of Palestinians rushed to distribution points and had to retreat private security contractors.

The chaotic launch of the business put international pressure on Israel to get more food in and stop gauge battles.
