The UN says over 1,300 Palestinians killed Gaza’s help search from May
Listen to the article

The UN Human Rights Office said on Friday that 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while waiting for help in the Gaza Strip affected by the end of May, most of the Israeli army.

“Overall, on May 27, at least 1,373 Palestinians were killed while looking for food, 859 in the region (US humanitarian territories of the US and Israeli, humanitarian foundations of Gaza) and 514 along the routes of food escorts,” the agency’s office said in a statement.

“Most of these murders were committed by the Israeli army,” he added.

Israeli fire killed 11 in Gaza

Gaza’s Political Defense Service said 11 people were killed by Israeli shootings and air attacks on Friday, including two waiting near a Palestinian territory distribution area.

Political defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that five people were killed in a strike near the southern city of Khan Yunis and four more on a separate strike in a vehicle in Deir El-Balah, central Gaza.

The Israeli army told AFP that it could not confirm the strikes without specific coordinates.

Two other people were killed and more than 70 were injured by the Israeli fire while waiting for help near a food distribution center organized by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) backed by Israel and Israel between Khan Yunis and the nearby city.

The army did not immediately respond to the report.

Thousands of gazans have gathered every day near Gaza aid distribution points, including the four managed by GHF, whose businesses have been tarnished by chaotic scenes and almost daily reports of Israeli forces shooting at people waiting to collect.

GHF has denied that deadly shots have occurred in immediate proximity to helping points.

Media restrictions on Gaza and difficulties in accessing many areas mean that AFP is not able to independently verify the tolls and details provided by the Civil Defense Service and other parts.

Israeli restrictions on the entry of goods and assistance to Gaza Since the start of the war about 22 months ago have led to deficiencies of food and basic goods, including medicine, medical supplies and fuels, which hospitals are based on their generators.

The shortcomings have deteriorated by a total exclusion of more than two months for help imposed by Israel, which began to relax the interruption in late May as GHF began its activities.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense, which oversees political affairs in the Palestinian territories, Cogat, said on Friday that more than 200 aid trucks had been collected and distributed by the UN and international organizations the day before.

The UN says Gaza requires at least 500 help trucks per day.

Cogat added that four UN fuel tankers had entered the Palestinian territory and that 43 aid pallets were aircraft in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Jordan.
