Minister tells gas companies to quickly fix low pressure complaints, ensuring cooking needs are met daily

Islamabad:

Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik chaired a meeting on Monday to review the overall gas supply situation with the onset of winter and assess the grievance redressal mechanisms of Sui gas companies.

The managing directors of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) briefed the meeting in detail, saying that gas supply this year was significantly better than last winter, with an increase of about 26% in total gas supply to households. They said both companies actively address consumer complaints.

Ali Pervaiz Malik acknowledged the improved performance and emphasized that adequate measures have been taken to ensure that the culinary demands of the public are met during the winter season. He directed that optimum gas pressure should be maintained during supply hours and individual complaints should be resolved promptly to avoid inconvenience to consumers.

The MDs of the Sui companies pointed out that the grievance management system and 1199 helpline were fully functional and they had set up control rooms/situation rooms for fast tracking and resolution of grievances. They added that overall complaint resolution performance had improved compared to last year.

The federal minister reiterated that maximum relief should be extended to consumers, especially by dealing with low pressure complaints on a priority basis. The SSGC MD further informed the meeting that the duration of gas supply in Quetta has been increased by two hours, providing additional relief to the consumers in the area.

The minister asked the companies to ensure uninterrupted service throughout the winter.
