As the Indian Premier League (IPL) warms up with players who are playing not only for the Franchise Glory but also for the points in the India World Cup team, financial stakes have increased equally abruptly.
The Cricket Audit Council in India (BCCI) announced revised Central Conventions on Monday, further enhancing the profits of the country’s elite crickets, many of whom are already one of the highest athletes in the world.
The contracts, structured in four categories, provide significant annual inspectors: A+ Grade Players will receive 70 million INR (US $ 820,000), while Grade A players are going to earn 50 million INR, Grade B INR and Grade C-10 million.
In addition to these detainees, players also receive matching fees: 1.5 million INR (US $ 17,500) per test, INR600,000 for an international day and INR300,000 for an international T20.
Test experts will benefit from an additional incentive system, those involved in over 75% of India’s trial races at a time will win a bonus of 4.5 million INR per game.
The announcement comes at a central moment, as IPL performances are increasingly affecting the World Cup options. With the tournament to be hosted in India early next year, the current IPL season offers the players a double opportunity: to lift the league trophy and close their place on the largest T20 stage of the Cricket.
Although the figures exclude IPL match fees and bonuses in the field, combined profits from the league and national duty underline the huge economic rewards at stake in the modern ecosystem of Cricket, India.
