US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the Palestinians have no alternative to leaving Gaza and would like to see the neighboring countries that Jordan and Egypt will receive displaced Palestinians.
A document was also signed to stop US involvement with the United Nations Human Rights Council and continue to stop funding for the Unttestinian Agency Arwa.
Also, on Tuesday, Trump restored the “maximum pressure” campaign in Iran, which includes efforts to promote oil exports to zero to stop Tehran from gaining a nuclear weapon.
A presidential memorandum was signed that reiterated a harsh policy of Iran that was intended to prevent the country from achieving nuclear weapons and limiting oil exports.
Speaking to the White House Oval Office, Trump said Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and that the US has the right to prevent the sale of Iranian oil to other nations.
As he signed the note, Trump described it as very hard and said he was torn on whether he would make the move. He said Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and hopes that an agreement can be processed with Tehran.
He also said he would be willing to meet with his Iranian counterpart to try to persuade Iran to give up what the United States believes to be Tehran’s efforts to develop a nuclear weapon.
Trump accused former President Joe Biden of not strictly imposing oil penalties, which Trump says he was thrilled by Tehran, allowing him to sell oil to fund a nuclear weapons program and armed militancy in the Middle East.
Iran “dramatically accelerates” uranium enrichment of up to 60% purity, close to about 90% of weapons, said UN nuclear observer in December. Iran refused to want to develop a nuclear weapon.
Trump’s note, inter alia, orders the US Minister of Finance to impose “maximum financial pressure” on Iran, including sanctions and enforcement mechanisms on those who violate existing sanctions.
It also directs the Ministry of Finance and the Foreign Ministry to implement a campaign aimed at “driving Iran’s oil exports to zero”. US oil prices were losses on Tuesday with the news that Trump was planning to sign the note, which offset some weakness from the duty drama between Washington and Beijing.
