London: The newly elected British Muslim leader (MCB) of the United Kingdom promised to “transform the MCB structure, strategy, funding and culture” and that the organization will be a “unifying force” in the Muslim community.
Dr. Wajid Akhter’s comments were made as he was selected as the new Secretary General of the British Muslim Council (MCB).
The use of gang care to falsify a whole faith is unacceptable, said the newly elected leader of one of the UK’s largest Muslim organizations, MCB.
“A grooming is one too, a Muslim or the other,” he said.
The organization, founded in 1998, was self-characteristic as the largest Muslim organization-Obrela organization in the United Kingdom, with more than 500 members, but successive political administrations followed a non-commitment policy.
They were restored next year after MCB stated opposition to violence, but more recently both the Conservative Government and the Labor Government declined any official commitment.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Akhter spoke about the issues faced by British Muslims, including recent eruptions of Islamophobia on social media.
“We have to bypass the cultural wars that force us in a corner and characterize all those who criticize us as racists or Islamophobic. We must be willing to get involved in good faith even with our most ardent critics. he said.
Regarding the recent turmoil for gangs of gangs, he said: “Let me clarify it. A grooming is a very many, Muslim or the other. But the use of the heinous acts of few to falsify a whole faith and an ethnicity is also unacceptable. We will act against both injustices. ”
He had faced a vote on Saturday against Dr. Muhammad Adrees to become the new Secretary General, and both men were criticized in a Think Tank report for some of their previous views.
The elections were held at the MCB’s annual General Assembly in London, where representatives representing 500 associated organizations gave their vote after a series of national competitions.
The new Secretary -General promised a radical revision of the British Muslim Council to ensure that the Organization better serves the Muslim communities for the challenges and opportunities to come.
He said: “Since MCB was founded in 1997, our community has changed, our country has changed and our challenges and opportunities have changed – as an organization we must change.”
Dr. Ahter called for a “community that has an unity of purpose, not uniformity of views” and “has the power to serve people regardless of religion or color.”
He described his vision of British Muslims “not only to participate in the revolution of artificial intelligence, but to lead it and make the British islands the next Silicon Valley”.
Addressing the accusations against the new MCB leadership before the election, Dr. Akhter said: “Dr. Adrees and I have faced well -known appearances who questioned our faith – as British Muslims know very well in public life. He grew up here, I find it painful to challenge my Britishity by self -sufficient judges about who is “good” or “bad” Muslim I will continue to serve both my community and my country regardless of attacks. “
Maswood Ahmed was elected Deputy Secretary General. A veteran community leader with over 35 years of experience in social work, Ahmed has been involved in MCB since its founding in 1997.
Outgoing Secretary General Zara Mohammed wrote a story when he was chosen to lead MCB in 2021, and became the first woman and the younger man to take on the role of just 29 years old.
