  • The leased people who paid RS552BN to FY25 show the FBR data.
  • The share of the household sector is increased to 49.6% during the July-March FY25.
  • This increase shows the relative expansion of home demand.

ISLAMABAD: The government has collected RS490 billion through electricity bills in the form of tax withholding (WHT) and general sales tax (GST) by consumers in the financial year 2024-25, compared to the 600 billion RS rented during the same period.

Temporary data from the Federal Board of Directors (FBR) also show that people with a salaried class paid 552 billion Rs from the latest data collection during the last financial year that ended on June 30, 2025 against RS367 billions in the previous financial year, indicating that the previous financial year, indicating that the previous financial year. It ended it on 2023-24.

Confirmed top official sources The news On Saturday that FBR tax collection through electricity bills decreased during the last year (2024-25) to 490 billion Rs from WHT and GST, compared to 600 billion Rs in the previous financial year (2023-24).

There is a decline in RS110 billion in the form of both taxes and two of the reasons for this reduction may be the displacement of consumers to install solar energy on roofs and reduced consumption from the industrial sector due to slow or negative growth in the last financial year.

However, the financial survey for 2024-25 explains that during July to March 2025, total electricity consumption in Pakistan amounted to 80,111 GWH, compared to 83,109 GWH in the corresponding period of FY 2024, reflecting a 3.6% reduction in electricity. This contraction can be attributed to the ongoing energy conservation measures, increased power invoices, off -network solar solutions and hypotonic industrial activity.

The household sector continued to dominate electricity consumption, with its share increasing to 49.6% (39,728 GWH) during July-March 2025, from 47.3% (39,286 GWH) in the same period of 2024.

This increase indicates a relative expansion of the demand for housing, possibly driven by population growth, increased use of home appliances and consistent consumption patterns related to weather conditions.

On the contrary, financial research has shown that the consumption of the industrial sector decreased from 28,830 GWH the FY 2024 to 21,082 GWH in 2025.

From the real estate sector, the FBR brought 235 billion Rs from transactions below 236 C and K for the sale and purchase of the property.

FBR has collected RS118 billion to 236C and RS117 billion from 236K in the last financial year for a collection of 90 billion Rs to 236C and RS104 billion from 236K in the financial year 2023-24.

Of the leased people, FBR has so far collected RS552 billion to the latest temporary data compiled by FBR in the last financial year.

When they came into contact, the high impact of the FBR were of the view that FBR garnered 5.8 trillion Rs in the form of direct taxes in the last financial year, of which the main part was paid by the corporate sector.

The banking sector, he said, paid RS1 to RS1.5 trillion as an income tax and tax withholding. The tax rate of the banking sector is around 55% and has been deposited almost the RS1 trillions as an income tax during the latest use.

The corporate sector had contributed nearly 3.8 trillion Rs to the National Kitty, they said and added that the contribution of employees increased by 185 billion Rs in the last financial year.

In this financial year 2025-26, they said that the main impulse would be effectively enforced, otherwise the target of the RS14,131 trillion tax would not be achieved.
