Balanced pharmaceutical regulations sought

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman, addressing the media at the inauguration of the two-day Pak Pharma and Healthcare Expo at Expo Centre, Lahore, emphasized the importance of a balanced regulatory framework for the pharmaceutical industry, according to a statement on Wednesday. He stressed that while the caretaker government’s initiative to deregulate drug prices is laudable, the regulations should not be overly strict, risking the exit of pharmaceutical companies from the industry. At least 31 Palestinians were killed in separate raids

GAUZE: Huddled under makeshift canvas shelters in the parking lot, sleeping in corridors or on landings, spending daylight hours in stairwells, hanging laundry from the ceiling – thousands of displaced Gazans fill every space at Al Shifa Hospital. The main hospital in Gaza City has turned into a huge shelter for people whose homes have been bombed or who fear being caught in Israel’s military offensive on the Gaza Strip, which is entering its second month. “We ran from our home because of the heavy airstrikes,” said Umm Haitham Hejela, a woman sheltering with young children in a makeshift tent

Gaza patients at risk in ‘indescribable’ situation – WHO

GENEVA: The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday that the forced evacuation of hospitals in the Gaza Strip would put the lives of hundreds of patients at risk as he described the situation on the ground as “indescribable”. “Twenty-three hospitals have been ordered to evacuate Gaza City and northern Gaza, and a forced evacuation under these circumstances would put the lives of hundreds of patients at risk,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
