Israel pounds northern Gaza as it steps up ground offensives
GAUZE: Palestinians in northern Gaza reported heavy airstrikes and artillery early Monday as Israeli troops backed by tanks pressed into the enclave with a ground offensive that prompted more international calls to protect civilians. Medical authorities in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of 2.3 million, said 8,005 people – including 3,324 minors – were killed.
