Pakistan has assumed the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27 under the theme "Turning vision into action, connectivity, innovation and shared prosperity", and will host next year's summit in Islamabad.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday removed Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb from the chairmanship of another important body responsible for economic decision-making, called the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec). The Prime Minister himself retained the chairmanship of Ecnec after attempts to appoint Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to head the commission. However, Dar was listed as a member of Ecnec. KARACHI: Tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi has become the first active player to assume the office of President as he eyes the revival of the sport in Pakistan.
