Pakistan tightens Muharram security and moves against online sectarian incitement ahead of Ashura

With Muharram beginning June 17 and Ashura on June 26, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's peace committee has ordered action on social-media incitement, while Punjab deploys army and Rangers for thousands of processions.

Punjab CTD arrests 4 terrorists ahead of Ashura

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has foiled a major terror plot, arrested four suspected terrorists linked with a banned militant outfit from Rawalpindi. According to a CTD spokesperson, the CTD teams conducted 71 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different districts, took 71 suspected persons into custody for interrogation and formally arrested four alleged terrorists. The spokesperson further said that suspects Ajmal, Feroz, Hamid Bashir and Syed Awais belong to the Tehreek-e_Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Daesh and the Baloch Liberation Army.
