NEW YORK:
Taylor Swift has once again collaborated with Swedish Hitmaker Max Martin, the architect behind some of the biggest pop hymn of the last three decades, for her upcoming album “The Life of a Showgirl”.
On October 3rd (tomorrow), the record marks a return to the upset pop for Swift, which has spent its last four albums in more intimate territory. For Martin, born Karl Martin Sandberg in Stockholm, it is another chapter in a career that has shaped modern pop.
A former metal singer who cut his teeth with the band “It’s Live”, Martin revolved in songs and production and quickly scored with actions such as “Ace of the Base” before collapsing on the American stage with the backstreet boys.
His now legendary guy-lucrative hooks, simple but unforgettable lyrics and irresistible rhythms-created blows by Britney Spears “… Baby More Time” to “the” blind lights “of the Weekend.
Swift first worked with Martin in 2011 as it was transferred from a country to mainstream pop. Their co-written blow “We Never Return Together” redefined its sound on the 2012 album “Red”.
Martin’s influence deepens in 1989, where he helped to handle it “move it” and “bad blood”, introducing what critics call SWIFT’s “mono -lunch pop” that were most infectious and phrase from the long lyrical narrative.
“Fans are not expected to follow a story, but take a walk,” said Clay Stevenson, an associate professor at Elon University. “Martin was critical in this development.” Now 35, Swift says her new album reflects “the most infectious cheerful, wild, dramatic place I was in my life”.
This period included the recording of the “Eras” tour and its commitment to NFL Star Travis Kelce. In ‘New Heights’ podcast, Swift described ‘Showgirl’ as an attempt to capture a pure ‘turmoil’, with many pieces called ‘bangers’.
The 12 -song record includes a duet with Rising Star Sabrina Carpenter and sees Martin working again with Shellback’s long -term partner. The play returns to the high energy years of Swift, with the singer himself resembling his willingness to “move away” and “22”.
In addition to music, Swift is again orchestrating a cultural event. The album is already the most pre-deposit in Spotify history, breaking its own record and will be accompanied by a release of a weekend cinema.
Theaters in dozens of countries will show a music video, a featurette, a personal comment and even a karaoke -type single. The deadline estimates that the one -off event could raw between $ 30 million and $ 50 million.
With the “life of a showgirl”, Swift and Martin bet great that the pop-up pop and meticulously scheduled spectacle can once again deliver a cultural moment. Judging from the frenzy that is already surrounding release, it seems that the twin has hit gold once again.
