Pretoria: South African Captain Aiden Markram says his side can expect to be targeted on their backs when they start a new round of the World Test Championship (WTC) as defenders.
South Africa plays a series of two tests in Pakistan, starting Sunday and two games in India in November, as they tried to maintain the trophy they won in June by hitting Australia with five Wickets in Lord’s.
The WTC is decided at the end of a two -year round, with the first two teams competing in a five -day one -day match.
“I guess you are creating a target piece on your back if you have won (the WTC), and if that is, it is fair, we want to chase a place in the final and upload the trophy once again, but to realize that each team will come for us,” said Markram, Moscow strain.
“We, as a team, must continue to improve and improve and play well in all the different types of conditions. It starts for us in Pakistan and is a challenge that will be boys,” he said at a press conference on Monday.
South Africa exercises specially prepared wickets in the high performance center of Pretoria.
“There were some nets prepared where the rotation is really exaggerated and you would prefer to mistake that side and maybe then it’s a little easier when we get to Pakistan,” Markram said.
“We’re waiting to face a lot of spin there, and it’s also, of course, much lower there in terms of seam.
The first test against Pakistan is in Lahore and the second begins on October 20 at Rawalpindi.
