Sindh governor supports manufacturing sector

KARACHI:

The Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, has reaffirmed his commitment to support initiatives that promote the development of the manufacturing sector and contribute to the economic development of the country.

During a visit to the Indus Motor Company (IMC) plant, Tessori lauded the company’s achievements in localization, its contribution to the local automotive industry and its impact on the national economy and employment generation.

“It was a remarkable experience to visit Indus Motor and witness first-hand their state-of-the-art plant which has set a benchmark in the automotive industry of Pakistan,” he said. “The company’s significant capital and human resources investments speak volumes for its focus on the quality and safety of its products. No wonder people love us and trust the Toyota brand. The company’s recent initiative to export Toyota ‘Make in Pakistan’ vehicles and parts is commendable, firmly placing Pakistan on the global map. The provincial government is keen to continue supporting initiatives that drive economic growth and promote environmental responsibility, not only in Sindh, but across the country.”

IMC Managing Director Ali Asghar Jamali briefed the Sindh governor on the company’s developments and future plans, highlighting its progress in the local automotive industry. He highlighted the company’s recent achievements in localization and international expansion.

Jamali noted the impressive 64% localization level achieved by Toyota models, with the Corolla range now boasting over 60% localization. He also announced that IMC has started exporting semi-finished raw materials to Egypt and vehicles to Oceania countries, marking a major milestone in the country’s Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) export history.
