Former Pakistani Cricket Captain Shahid Afridi expressed his concern about India’s premature and unfounded accusations against Pakistan after the recent Pahalgam attack on Indian illegally occupied Jammos and Cashmir (Iiojk).
Speaking to the media in Dubai, Afridi criticized New Delhi for the Pakistan category without any evidence, calling the act of both “unfortunate and unjustified”.
He said India was too fast to keep Pakistan responsible for the incident, which resulted in the loss of lives on occupied territory.
Afridi further expressed sadness over the loss of human lives in Kashmir and condemned the growing wave of terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
He called on diplomacy to be the path forward between the two neighboring nuclear weapons, stating: “Dialogue is the only solution to our issues, the conflict does not benefit.”
Underlining the need to maintain sports separately from political tensions, the former governor urged both nations to ensure that cricket is not transferred to geopolitical differences.
Pakistan-India tensions are increasing
Tensions run high between nuclear reinforced neighbors after the deadly firearms of Tuesday’s firearms in Indian illegal occupied area of Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk) Pahalgam killed at least 27 tourists, pressing bilateral ties with a new low in almost two decades.
The day after the attack, New Delhi suspended a water exchange condition, announced the closure of the main border crossing with Pakistan, downgraded diplomatic ties and withdrew the visas for Pakistanis.
In response, Islamabad ordered the expulsion of Indian diplomats and military advisers, canceling the visas for Indian nationals, except for Sikh pilgrims – and the closure of the main crossing of the borders on his part.
Pakistan also warned every attempt by India to stop supplying water from the Indus River would be an “war act”.
Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan by its independence in 1947. India has not yet fulfilled its promise to hold a referendum not identified by UN.
