According to media reports, two other Pakistani forces officials have also been wounded in the same attack.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has yet to comment on this.
It is to be mentioned here that on January 4, 2023, two officials of an intelligence agency were martyred by an unidentified person in the parking of a roadside hotel in the Khanewal district.
According to Police, Multan region Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director Naveed Sadiq and inspector Nasir Abbas were having tea at a roadside hotel on National Highway near Pirowal.
Police said both the officials went to the parking lot [after tea] when an unidentified man opened fire at them. Both the officials suffered bullet wounds and died on the spot. However, the attacker riding a motorcycle fled the scene.
The attack comes as Pakistan is witnessing rising terrorist activities after TTP withdrew from a ceasefire agreement in November 2023.
Pakistan’s security forces have conducted numerous operations against terrorism across the country, not only arresting terrorists and their facilitators but also foiling several attacks during the last three months.
Security forces have killed at least 142 terrorists during the last three months as operations to eliminate terrorism from the country continue. At least 1,007 terrorists were arrested during 6,921 operations by security forces across the country in the last three months.
A total of 1,960 operations were conducted in K-P, out of which 1,516 were area-domination operations, 301 were intelligence-based operations, and 143 were area-sanitisation operations. As a result of the operations conducted by security forces, 98 terrorists were killed and 540 were arrested in K-P.
