Security Sources Report 17 Militants Killed in Kharan and Khuzdar Operations

Security forces killed seven militants in an intelligence-based operation in the Lajay area of Kharan district in Balochistan, security sources said on Sunday (Geo News).

The operation followed information about the presence of militants in the area, the sources said, adding that several others were wounded. Weapons, ammunition and other equipment were recovered from hideouts, and a motorcycle and two vehicles found there were destroyed by the forces. Those killed were described as having been involved in planning extortion, kidnapping, target killings and suicide attacks.

The operation came a day after security sources reported ten militants killed in an exchange of fire in the Shor Parod mountain range of Khuzdar district, following reports of militants present in the area. Several were said to have been wounded there as well, with three hideouts targeted.

Both operations were described as part of Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.

The accounts come from security sources rather than a formal Inter-Services Public Relations statement. The casualty figures, the affiliations attributed to those killed and the descriptions of the engagements have not been independently verified, and no independent access to either site has been reported. As has recurred in recent weeks, the group labels differ between the two: Geo attributes the Kharan dead to Fitna al-Khawarij, the designation the military generally uses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and those in Khuzdar to Fitna al-Hindustan, the label usually applied in Balochistan.

The reported operations bring the running total claimed in the province over roughly ten days to more than fifty.

Violence has risen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since 2021. The Centre for Research and Security Studies found the two provinces together accounted for nearly 96 per cent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026, with 265 deaths in Balochistan across 94 incidents.
