Karachi: Pakistan All-Rounder Salman Ali Agha stressed that the importance of conversion begins in large scores and maintaining consistency after his team’s defeat against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy race on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, AGHA admitted that Pakistan soon fell into all departments, but vowed to rebuild for their crucial upcoming struggle against India leaders.
“We need to convert 30 and 40s to greater results,” AGHA said. “If we want to become one of the top teams in the world. We have to consistently bring to our performances.”
Chasing a 321 goal, Pakistan struggled to build corporate relationships and momentum throughout their entries. AGHA pointed out the failure of the team to benefit from conditions -friendly conditions.
“In this wicket, 300-plus was feasible, but we didn’t get a good start in the blow. We couldn’t build corporate relationships or momentum and Powerplay’s performance was also under the exchange rate,” he said.
The absence of the open Fakhar Zaman, who could not take his normal position at the top of the class, further fell on Pakistan’s hunt. “Fakhar’s absence at first influenced our Powerplay. If it were there, the beginning and our subsequent position could be different,” AGHA added.
Reflecting his own show, Agha acknowledged that he could have expanded his entries to have a greater impact. “I could have played a longer Innings. If I had left, the result could have been different,” he said.
AGHA emphasized the importance of improving Powerplay’s performance, especially when chasing large sets. “To chase 320, you have to do well in Powerplay. Today, we didn’t have a good performance in any section and we couldn’t meet expectations,” he admitted.
Despite the loss, AGHA remained focused on the next challenge: a high -stage match against India. “We will put this match behind us and take the field with complete determination for the India game,” he said.
AGHA also stressed the need for continuous improvement to compete with the world’s best teams. “To beat the top teams in the world, we have to play well,” he said.
