While Dwayne Johnson has vehemently denied the Maui fire allegations, his fans on Twitter are here to support their former WWE idol
In a recent Twitter scandal, Dwayne Johnson slaps a reporter for spreading false claims, and The Rock’s fans are standing by him.
On February 10, a reporter posted a video of Dwayne Johnson being booed on X (Twitter) during a WWE match in Las Vegas, and captioned the video saying, “CROWD IN VEGAS BUSH ‘THE ROCK’ DEMANDING TO FOLLOW WITH REINFORCEMENT FOR MAUI”.
For those who don’t know, the island of Maui experienced a series of wildfires in 2023 causing mass destruction to the land, forcing thousands of people to evacuate and many casualties. In the wake of the dire situation, Dwayne Johnson and Oprah Winfrey pledged to send $1,200 a month in aid to Maui residents.
Dwayne, who recently joined WWE’s parent company TKO, denied the allegations and explained that the fund has already handed out “over $50 million” to those affected and suggested that the user X in question should post something “positive”.
Despite The Rock’s strong denial, his fans took to social media to show their support.
One user wrote, “That was absolutely disgusting from Nick.”
Another commented: “Imagine not being able to understand a basic wrestling angle.” referring to the video where Dwayne turned heel (a wrestling term for villains).
One X user shared, “Does this dude seriously think the crowd booing you in Vegas had anything to do with Hawaii?” indicating that the crowd chanting Maui was a reference to his character in the animated film Moana.
However, there is another fraction of people who question his credibility and noted, “For everyone going to Nick, remember, he’s the one on the ground in Maui. Seeing with his eyes what is happening. So where is all the money that The Rock and Oprah raised? Why are people still suffering?’
Another claimed, “So why not release where the funds are going publicly and put all this to rest?”
Amid the storm of supporters on Twitter rallying behind Dwayne and others raising valid questions, the 51-year-old actor is focused on staying transparent about his social efforts and effectively delivering on his promise.
