Former India coach Ravi Shastri on Saturday hit the Indian Bowling Unit for its incredible performance and inability to get Wickets during the continuing Headingley test against England.
According to Indian media, Shastri, who was visible frustrated, distinguished Jasprit Bumrah as the only ball to perform the sign, while criticizing the rest of the attack because he did not support him.
“There is a big difference in levels. The concern is Bumrah and his workload will be as the series evolves because he is one man expected to get wickers every spell that bowl,” Shastri noticed.
He raised concerns about the lack of support by Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, stressing that Bumrah’s exaggeration could prove to be expensive for India on the rest of the series.
“I hope someone at the other end puts his hands,” he added, stressing the urgent need for other pellers to take responsibility and facilitate pressure on Bumrah.
India began on the second day in a dominant position on 324/2, with Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill in full flow and a huge first overall.
However, a dramatic lower class collapse has seen the last seven wickets fall for just 41 runs, leaving India all out for 471.
With the Bumrah ball once again pushed the weight almost individually.
He finished the day with impressive 3/48 figures in 13 overs, rejecting Zak Crawley in his first over a wonderful tradition and later removing Ben Duckett and Joe Root – the last for the 10th time in the test cricket.
On the contrary, Siraj, Shardul and Prasidh fought all over, going without a wicket and watched combined 154 runs, failing to maintain consistent pressure despite the enforcement of India’s first scoring.
Pant’s’s “Falling Sweep”
The Indian legend of Sachin Tendulkar was impressed on Saturday by Rishabh Pant’s brilliant century in the first Headingley test against England.
Tendulkar praised the fearless and unusual reception of the Pant, highlighting his unique “fall” technique, which Wicketkeeper-Batter often executed during his entries.
Pant, known for his bold style, noted a 134 administration runs from 178 balls, including 12 degrees and six six.
One of the standout strokes in his entries was his brand falls a flap – a shot that often sees him losing the balance and ending up on the ground.
Tendulkar clarified that this is far from accidental. Sharing his ideas for the X former Twitter, he explained that Pant deliberately descends with the shot to get under the ball and take it over the foot with control, turning what seems embarrassed into a smart and effective tactic.
“Rishabh’s paddle fall is not accidental. It is deliberate and extremely smart. The direction with the shot allows it to get under the ball and take it over the foot with control,” Tendulkar wrote.
The former Captain of India also praised Pant and Shubman Gill for their smart tactics in the field while facing the young England Spinner Shoaib Bashir.
Tendulkar noted that the couple deliberately spoke loudly in Hindi among the traditions – a fine blow to upset Bashir, who understands the language.
“I also noticed something interesting during Bashir’s spell, Shubman and Rishabh were talking loudly in Hindi among the traditions. It was not just casual discussion.
“They were playing mind games with the bell, trying to disrupt its rhythm. These secondary details may not appear on the scoreboard, but they may have a significant impact on the game,” Tendulkar concluded.
Meanwhile, Pant has added another feather to his lid, making the Indian player with the most six in the history of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
