LONDON: Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s stark statement in Washington acknowledging that Sikhs face an existential threat in India will serve as a catalyst for the Sikh Referendum for Justice (SFJ) campaign in Khalistan and strengthen and will strengthen support for Punjab independence, said the group’s General Counsel Gurpatwad Singh Panun.
Pannun said Hindutva extremist groups like BJP, RSS and Jana Sangh members, who condemn Gandhi for acknowledging the facts, are enemies of Sikhs, Punjab and Khalistan.
Gandhi also informed the Congress members about the persecution faced by Sikhs in Modi’s India, he said.
Pannun said in a statement: “Gandhi’s statement not only justifies the referendum in Khalistan on the independence of Punjab, but also reflects the realization by the Congress party, by the leader of the opposition, that Punjab is on the verge of secession from the Union of India. become an independent Sikh country, a new neighborhood of Pakistan and India.”
“That is why the opposition leader began his diplomatic drive to build relations with the future neighbor Khalistan. Gandhi signaled to the US that the Congress party has accepted that Punjab will be an independent country because the Sikhs face an existential threat to Modi’s India,” he added.
The New York-based lawyer said, “These BJP, RSS and Jana Sangh leaders like Manjinder Sirsa and Iqbal Lalpura are enemies of Sikhs, Punjab and Khalistan and will be held accountable. Prime Minister Modi, it is time you realized that the people of Punjab are seeking independence from the Union of India through the Khalistan Global Referendum.”
Pannun was referring to Gandhi’s speech to an Indian-American rally in Herndon, a Virginia suburb of Washington, on September 9 this year, in which the Congress leader accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of taking into account certain religions, languages and communities is inferior to others and said that the struggle in India is about that and not about politics.
When asked the name of a person wearing a turban at the rally, Gandhi said: “The fight is whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear his turban in India or a Kanda in India. Or he, as a Sikh, is going to Na you can go to a gurdwara. This is the struggle and not only for him, for all religions.
