Qunicy Jones' Viral Dig At The Beatles' Posthumous Resurgence: The Worst Musicians
Qunicy Jones’ viral posthumous dig at Beatles: ‘worst musicians’

Quincy Jones’ controversial statements about the Beatles have just resurfaced!

Following the music legend’s death, aged 91, on November 3, his 2018 comments on New York Magazine they came to light once again.

Michael Jackson’s infamous collaborator and friend shared his first impression of the Beatles, describing them as “mothers who don’t play”.

“They were the worst musicians in the world,” he said at the time, adding, “Paul [MCCartney] he was the worst bass player I ever heard.”

And specifically, he may also have held a grudge against the legendary band’s drummer, Ringo Starr, with whom he remembered recording the song, Love is a very wonderful thing.

“It took Ringo three hours for a four-bar theme he was trying to fix in a song. He couldn’t take it,” Jones said.

He continued, “We said, ‘dude, why don’t you get some lager and lime, some shepherd’s pie, and take an hour and a half and relax a bit.’

While Starr left, Jones later claimed he sent English jazz drummer Ronnie Verrell into the studio and recalled:[He] went in for 15 minutes and tore it up. Ringo comes back and says [to George Martin]can you play it for me one more time So George did it and Ringo says, “It didn’t sound that bad,” and I said, “Yeah, Mom, because it’s not you.” Great guy, though.”

These comments caused an uproar among music fans, however, a few months later, McCartney himself responded to Jones’ comments, saying GQ as the now-departed music producer clarified: “Paul, I didn’t really say that – I don’t know what happened, man. I never said that. You know I love you guys!”

McCartney recalled his response and revealed: “I said, ‘If you had said that, you know what I would have said? You, Quincy Jones, are a crazy mom!’ So we actually just laughed. And she said, “Oh Paul, you know I love you so much.” “Yes, I know you do, Quince.”
