Russian President Vladimir Putin, under pressure from Washington to show the willingness to peace in Ukraine, proposed Monday’s bilateral talks with Kiev for the first time for years and said he was open to more needs after one day.
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that Kiev sent a delegation to London to meet with the United States and other western countries on Wednesday.
London’s talks are a continuation of a meeting in Paris last week, during which the US and European states discussed ways to end more than the three -year war.
Putin, speaking to a Russian state television reporter, said fighting had been repeated after his surprise for 30 hours of Easter, which he announced unilaterally on Saturday.
Both countries accused the other of violating Putin’s truce, which Kiev rejected heavily from the beginning as a vagina.
Washington said it would welcome an expansion of the truce. Zelenskiy, who called for a 30 -day cease -out ceasefire for political goals, said Russian attacks continued during Sunday’s cease, showed that Moscow had intended to extend the war.
In his comments, Putin said that Moscow was open to any peace initiatives and is expected by Kiev.
“When the president said it was possible to discuss the issue of not impressing political goals, including bilaterals, the president had in mind the negotiations and discussions with the Ukrainian side,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Zelenskiy made no mention of Putin’s observations on bilateral talks in his observations on X that announces the Ukrainian delegation about London’s talks.
“Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France and the United States – we are ready to move forward as constructively as possible, as before, to achieve an unconditional cessation, followed by the establishment of a real and enduring peace,” Zelenskiy wrote, adding that Zelenskiy wrote.
Earlier on Monday, Zelenskiy said his forces were called upon to continue reflecting the actions of the Russian army.
“The nature of Ukraine’s actions will remain symmetrical: the ceasefire will meet with the ceasefire and Russian strikes will meet with our own defense. Actions always speak louder than words,” he told X.
US President Donald Trump and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said on Friday that Washington could be removed from peace talks if the sides do not make more progress within a few days. Trump hit a more optimistic note on Sunday, saying that we “hope” that the two sides will make a “week” deal.
Russia has not yet returned from its demands, including Ukraine, grant all the allegations that Putin claims to have attached and receives permanent neutrality. Ukraine says this would be equivalent to tradition and leave it unexplored if Moscow attacks again.
Asked about Trump’s observations about a possible peace deal soon, Peskov told reporters that he would not make comments, “especially for the timetable”.
“President Putin and the Russian side remain open to the search for a peaceful settlement. We continue to work with the American side and, of course, hope that this project will produce results.”
While there were no air raid alerts in Ukraine on Sunday, the Ukrainian forces reported nearly 3,000 Russian cease violations with the heaviest attacks observed along the first -line Pokrovsk section, Zelenskiy said earlier on Monday.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said Sunday that Ukrainian forces had shot in Russian positions 444 times and said it had measured more than 900 Ukrainian attacks, also saying there were deaths and injuries between the political population.
