LAHORE:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sounded the alarm over the health and medical treatment of its founding president and former prime minister, Imran Khan, expressing deep concerns for his well-being.
The party has raised questions over the denial of medical facilities to one of the country’s most prominent leaders.
In a statement posted on social media, the PTI slammed the Adiala Jail authorities for allegedly defying court orders and repeatedly denying medical treatment to Imran Khan, who they claim is being detained illegally.
They questioned why the current regime, allegedly supported by the establishment, persistently denies Imran Khan’s legal right to medical care and prohibits necessary medical tests, including a blood test.

The party also shared a copy of an application dated April 10, 2024, seeking execution of a court order for a comprehensive medical examination and blood tests from Shaukat Khanum Hospital as recommended by Dr Asim Yousaf during an earlier medical evaluation.
According to the application submitted to the accountability judge, Imran Khan’s legal team highlighted his years of service to the nation and stressed the urgency of getting the recommended blood tests done.
PTI leaders stressed that any delay in these trials could pose serious risks to Khan’s well-being, especially considering his incarceration in connection with what they described as “false and bogus cases” filed by political opponents.
In addition, the application cited the need for an examination by an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist, Dr. Kashif Iqbal Malik, to address specific medical concerns. They asked the court to direct the jail superintendent to immediately arrange for collection of blood samples from Dr. Faisal Sultan of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and facilitate ENT examination by Dr. Kashif Iqbal Malik, stressing the urgency of the matter.
