  • The PCB decision comes after a drone incident near the Pindi Stadium.
  • Says the security of both domestic and foreign players top priority.
  • PCB describes foreign crickets as “valuable visitors”.

Karachi: Pakistan’s T20 Cricket Championship will be transferred to the United Arab Emirates, officials said Friday after Indian attacks in the country, including a drone that arrived at Rawalpindi Stadium.

Pakistan’s army was “eliminated” 28 Indian aircraft, including one near the city stage on Thursday morning, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said.

He called it “a deliberate attempt to target domestic and foreign cricket players”.

“Pakistan’s cricket council confirms that the rest of the Pakistan Super League matches have been shifted to the UAE,” read a PCB statement, which added that the program would be informed in due course.

The decision was reached after several meetings between the franchise and President PCB Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Minister of the Interior.

Naqvi said the decision was made for the sake of players’ security.

“The PCB has always been in the position that politics and sport must be maintained, however, in view of the extremely irresponsible and dangerous Indian targeting of the stadium, the PCB made this decision,” Naqvi told the statement.

“We have shifted the rest of the UAE matches, so that domestic and foreign crickets, who are our valuable visitors, can be saved from the possible reckless targeting from India.”

Former champions Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi had to play at Rawalpindi Stadium on Thursday, but the match was postponed after a drone that fell near the stadium.

Thirty -seven foreign players, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Western Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, participate in the PSL.

India sent an air influence to Pakistan on Wednesday, two weeks after New Delhi accused Islamabad of supporting an attack on Indiana illegally occupied Jammos and Kashmir (IIOK) – refused to refuse Pakistan.

Pakistan responded with a heavy artillery fire and the two sides accused each other on Thursday of carrying out waves of attacks.

International cricket continued in Pakistan in 2020, after being suspended after the 2009 terrorist attacks on the Sri Lanka bus in Lahore.

Several Australian and New Zealand players who participated in the PSL of this season, including Australia’s David Warner, had traveled to Pakistan with their national teams in the recent past.

The following lamps will be rescheduled accordingly, the PCB said.

• Carachi kings against Peshawar Zalmi

• Peshawar Zalmi by Lahore Qalandars

• Islamabad United V Karachi Kings

• Multan Sultans v Quetta Gladiators

• qualifying

• Eliminating 1

• Eliminating 2

• final
