Protests continue for 4th day in Sanghar after police refuse to include PPP MNA Allauddin Junejo in FIR for deadly armed assault

SANGHAR: The protest demonstration by angry protesters continued for the four day on Wednesday after Sanghar police had refused to nominate Pakistan Peoples Party’s MNA Allauddin Junejo in the FIR of killing three men and injuring over a dozen in an armed assault on Sunday. The protest demonstrations were staged outside Sanghar Press Club and on Mirpurkhas road by the angry protesters demanding justice for their victims.

The incident took place on Sunday in village Jani Junejo within the limits of Chautiari Police Station. Mushtaq Ahmed Junejo, Ali Bux Junejo and Abdul Rasool Junejo were gunned down. At least 15 persons were injured. Several of them were later shifted to hospitals in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Nawabshah..

The PPP MNAJunejo and his supporters claimed that the slain and injured persons were allegedly attacked because their livestock animals were entering their agricultural fields time and again even though police were also involved in the matter.
However, relatives of the dead and injured persons alleged that the MNAs’ armed men charged upon their village with the intention of occupying their land.

The supporters of Sarwari Jamaat MNA Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman, who also belongs to the PPP, held a protest in Sanghar and also joined the protest demonstrations condemning Sanghar police for its indifference to the incident. GM Hingorjo, Anwar Bhambro and other protestors denounced that the police neither timely responded to the incident nor showed any interest to round up the culprits.

According to them, the slain and injured persons were associated with Sarwari Jamaat led by Makhdooms of Hala. The rights activist, the members of the civil society, also joined the protest demonstration and demanded action against the PPP MNA, who according to them, had always supported criminals in Sanghar district. They demanded the PPP’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and others to take strong notice of the killing of three villagers allegedly at the behest of PPP MNA.

PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, accompanied by senior PTI leaders, including Mushtaq Junejo (President of Shaheed Benazirabad Division), Advocate Faisal Mughal (Hyderabad Division President), and other party members, visited Sanghar to express solidarity with the protestors.

Addressing the media, Haleem Adil Sheikh condemned the incident, calling it a grave injustice. He criticized the police for failing to register an FIR despite three days of protests and accused them of shielding influential figures implicated in the case.

“The Chotiariyon firing incident is deeply saddening. Three bodies have been lying on the road for days, while families, including women and children, continue their protest outside the press club Sanghar. Yet, the police refuse to register an FIR. This negligence demands the resignation of the Sindh IGP, DIG Shaheed Benazirabad, and SSP Sanghar,” Sheikh, he stated.

He further lambasted the PPP government, claiming, “If a wealthy person’s chicken is stolen, the FIR is filed within minutes. But when a poor family is massacred, the police turn a blind eye. This dual justice system is why our leader, Imran Khan, fights for true freedom in Pakistan”.

Sheikh vowed to escalate the protests from Karachi to Islamabad and raise the issue in the assemblies. He demanded immediate justice for the victims and their families, urging authorities to hold those responsible accountable.

“Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto must answer for this barbarity. Do these so-called representatives have a license to kill? How can they sleep while three bodies lie unburied on Sanghar’s streets? The people of Sindh must awaken to the PPP’s tyranny,” Sheikh emphasized.

He concluded by calling out the Sindh police for their complicity, stating, “The police have become servants of powerful politicians. They must break free from this servitude and fulfill their duty to the people
