Prince Harry has taken a surprising step to clarify his future plans amid reports of a reconciliation with King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex has reportedly decided to open his own online university, applying for the trademark.
It emerged amid speculation that King Charles has stepped up efforts to heal the rift with his son in his own life.
Harry, who struggled academically at Eton College and left with a D in A-level geography and a B in art, is set to announce a new initiative with US coaching platform BetterUp.
The father-of-two, who skipped university and headed straight to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an officer cadet, is an integral part of a team setting up its own ‘life-coaching’ university.
Doukas is third in command of the platform and was named the company’s “chief impact officer” with a reported salary of more than $1 million in March 2021 to focus on “proactive mental capacity.”
The Silicon Valley mental health company plans to launch an academic institution called BetterUp University, which will offer degrees in life coaching online.
In newly filed documents, the San Francisco-based company has applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office to register its BetterUp University concept.
The application states that the university will “provide online educational forums in the area of life coaching, career coaching, personal development coaching and career development coaching”.
In a conversation on BetterUp two years ago, Harry admitted to experiencing ‘burnout’ and previously feeling like he was ‘coming to the end of everything I had’.
He has spoken candidly on television and in his 2023 memoir Spare about the “unraveling” of his mental health, bemoaning the lack of “support” he received from the royal family. He also shared that he has been in therapy for four years “to heal myself from the past.”
