Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Israeli cabinet for a plan to take over the “illegal and illegal” control of Gaza, calling it a dangerous escalation in an already devastating war against the Palestinians.

In a statement published in X, the prime minister warned that the expansion of military operations in Gaza would deepen the ongoing humanitarian crisis and derail any prospects for peace in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that the main cause of the tragedy was in the prolonged and illegal occupation of Israel’s Palestinian territories, adding that peace would remain unclear as this occupation continued.

Confirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people, he reiterated their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with the capital of Al-Qus al-Sharif as the capital, according to the United Nations and the organization of Islamic cooperation decisions.

The prime minister urged the international community to act urgently to stop Israel’s “unjustified aggression”, secure political lives and facilitate immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The prime minister’s observations come after Israel’s army said he would “take control” of the city of Gaza under a new plan approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Council of Ministers, touching a wave of criticism on Friday both inside and outside the country.

Nearly two years in the Gaza War, Netanyahu is facing increasing pressure to secure a truce to pull more than two million people on the territory behind the rim of hunger and release the captives held by Israel’s enemy.

The team also denounces the plan to expand the struggles as a “new war crime”, while Germany’s stable Israeli ally took the emergency step to stop military exports from the concern that could be used in Gaza.

Under the recently approved plan for Hamas’ “victory”, the Israeli army “will be prepared to take control of the city of Gaza, while distributing humanitarian aid to political population outside the battle animals,” the prime minister’s office said.

Earlier, Netanyahu said that Israel was planning to take full control of the Gaza Strip, but did not intend to rule it.

“We don’t want to keep it,” our prime minister said Fox News On Thursday, Israel’s addition wanted a “security perimeter” and to hand over the Palestinian territory to “Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us”.

Israel occupied Gaza since 1967, but withdrew its troops and settlers in 2005.

The Netanyahu’s office said the majority of the cabinet had adopted “five principles”, including the demilitarization of the territory and “the establishment of alternative political administration that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority”.

The new plan has sparked rapid criticism from around the world, with China, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the UN rights leader issuing statements of concern.
