  • The Polioi was not detected in samples from the Pishin of Lahore.
  • A total of nine sewage samples of sewage collected from nine areas.
  • The samples were collected between May 8 and 23.

Karachi: The Pakistani Culture Elimination Program has confirmed the presence of polio in environmental specimens collected from seven areas throughout Pakistan.

The presence of the virus was confirmed in environmental samples by Gwadar, Quetta, South Waziristan (lower) and South Waziristan (upper). In addition, the Polioi was also detected in environmental specimens collected from Rawalpindi, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.

In a positive news, the environmental samples collected from Pishin and Lahore were declared free of polio from the program of elimination of polio, the public organization struggling to end the disease that is involved in the country.

According to the organization against Polio, a total of nine examples of sewage from nine regions in Pakistan were collected between May 8 and 23 as part of environmental surveillance efforts.

The Emergency Business Center (EOC) on June 16 said that the rate of refusal to vaccinate in the karachi, with at least 37,711 parents lowering the polio vaccine in May.

This marked an increase in cases of refusal as parents in the port city continued to reduce the vaccination of their children against polio.

In April, 37,360 parents refused vaccination against polio, according to EOC.

The Center said: “The rate of denial during the campaign against polio remains a constant challenge. Eliminating polio requires continuous support from parents.”

Particular attention is paid to trade union councils at risk for polio. Misunderstandings and lack of awareness are recognized as the main reasons for the refusal of the vaccine.

Polio is an extremely infectious disease caused by polio, which mainly affects children under five years of age. It can invade the nervous system, leading to paralysis or even death. Although there is no cure for polio, vaccination is the most effective way to protect children from this disease.

Pakistan is one of the two politicians around the world, along with Afghanistan and the number of cases had declined significantly in the country each year until the recent rise in cases.

So far this year, Pakistan has reported 6 cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4 from Sindh and 1 from Friday from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan, after Pakistan reported the 12th case of this year’s Bannu region on Friday.

Despite progress in national campaigns, the southern KP remains a challenge due to access issues and barriers to home vaccination, leaving many non -vaccinated and vulnerable children.

In 2025, three national campaigns – held in February, April and May – have reached over 45 million children, backed by 400,000 first line workers, including 225,000 women’s vaccines, the Nihipani Regional Reference Laboratory for Elimination.

Last month, the Pakistani Pakistani Elimination Program officially launched the third national immunization campaign (NIDS) in an attempt to make Pakistan a nation without polio.
