Pakistan reported two more cases of polio, as the regional reference laboratory for the elimination of polio at the Islamabad National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed that two children from Sindh have been diagnosed with the virus.
An affected child is from the Badin area and the other from the Ista area. In these two cases, the total number of cases of polio in the country for 2025 increased to 29-including 18 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nine from Sindh and one of Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Pakistani Politics Elimination Program, in collaboration with the extensive immunization program (EPI), conducted a vaccination campaign in 25 Sindh areas from September 1st to 7th.
The campaign had initially targeted 2.1 million children, but a significant number of children in Sindh, especially Karachi, remained unpaid, sources said.
Nearly 35,000 parents in Sindh refused to take their children vaccinated against polio, with the majority of refusals reported by Karachi. In the meantime, the reduction in vaccine denials referred to KP.
The new campaign against the political country will take place from October 13th to 19th, according to National EOC. He added that more than 45.4 million children would be given drops during movement.
Pakistan is one of the two politicians around the world, along with Afghanistan. The country was close to eliminating the disease that causes 2021 after a significant decline in the number of cases, until the recent rise in cases.
Last year, Pakistan reported a total of 74 cases of polio. Of these, 27 was from Balochistan, 23 by Sindh, 22 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and each of Punjab and Islamabad.
Polio is a paralyzed disease without treatment and the completion of the usual vaccination for all children under five years of age provides only high immunity against this terrible disease.
