  • Pakistan to hold early lack of supply talks with Qatar.
  • The energy sector is default glut deteriorations.
  • The price clause in Qatar contracts to be activated by March 2026.

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to open talks with Qatar on the future of LNG supplies, mainly in the light of a prices reopening clause to be activated in March 2026 under two long -term agreements and the continuing diverting of the cargoes in the international market The news reported.

The surplus crisis in Pakistan has deepened significantly, is driven by repetitive energy deficiencies, which continues to degrade imported gas in breach of conventional commitments.

In order to address these concerns, a high -level delegation led by Federal Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik is scheduled to visit Qatar by the end of August, a senior official in the oil department said The news.

“The top tangerines in the oil department must be completed by September 15 to October, the 2026 ADP Delivery Plan (ADP) on Qatar LNG loads by remodeling their arrivals.

“If we go through the Qatar deals, we must start the dialogue in March 2026, when the price opening clause rely on and the process of completing the talks will last 6-8 months and the new LNG gas outlook will be on stage in 2027.

“Since we do not have time, we have decided to settle this issue before the year, as in 2026 the GLUT of the LNG will be further worsened as five loads that were to reach 2025 had been postponed in 2026.”

Pakistan introduces 9 LNG loads from Qatar per month (5 loads at 13.37 percent of Brent and 4 loads at 10.02% of Brent) under 15 years and 10 years agreements respectively based on receiving or paying to serve the sustainable offer of RLNG in four RLNG Undertonts. the fact that contracts as such agreements.

Pakistan also imports a load from ENI – an Italian trading company every month and this load is diverted every month to the international market for sale from February 2025 and this diversion will continue until December 2025.

Being within the Qatar agreements, the official said that Pakistan could divert the LNG load imported from Qatar to the international market under NPD’s Pace (Net Proceed Differential), but according to the agreements if Qatar is requested to divert Pakistani’s load on the international market, then Pso. If the load is sold less than the value of the term, then the loss will be borne by Pakistan.

The deductions that are reduced to Qatar are very different from the contract with ENI. According to the term agreement with ENI, when the load is leaving the international market, the profit will be distributed between ENI and PPL (Pakistan LNG Limited) and if it is less sold, the loss will also be distributed.

During the Qatar talks, the official said the Pakistan authorities would evaluate the mood of the Catari authorities for future LNG providing agreements. From the date of March 2026, it is approaching quickly, a price opening clause will rely on, and at that time Pakistan will have the right to dismiss the import of certain cargoes from the agreement and the new gas prices for other loads will also negotiate the prevailing LNG prices.

The top official also painted a gloomy image of Glut LNG and its impact on the local gas sector, saying that the less use of RLNG in the energy sector by breach of agreements caused an increase in gas pressure on the main RLNG pipeline.

From Sunday (August 3, 2025), the pressure package of the line reached 5.170 BCF and when the pressure exceeds 5BCF – a sign of risk, the national gas network can burst at any time. The data also shows that in order to store the system, the authorities have closed 350-400MMCFD gas wells.
