Karachi:
Pakistan officially joined the AI global landscape with the launch of Pakistan of the Union Capital to promote Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), founded in 1958.
The event was chaired by Muhammad Tahir, the newly appointed president of AAAI Pakistan, who introduced the basic vision and benefits of this global affiliation. “This is not just a chapter,” he said. It is Pakistan’s official entry into the AI world ecosystem. Through AAAI, the Pakistanis will gain access to over 15,000 AI international research documents, global university collaborations, funding opportunities for newly established businesses, international hackathons and an opportunity to host AAAI’s official Regional Conference in Pakistan.
The event attended key elements of the Pakistani government and technology leadership, including Dr. Yasar Ayaz, president of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) and head of the AI National Team. He issued the AAAI initiative, stating: “This is a time to change the game.”
With the presence of AAAI, Pakistan’s AI capabilities will be recognized worldwide. It opens the doors to academic, economic and technological development on a scale we have never seen before. The event opened with a historic video appearance by Jack McCarthy, the late founder of artificial intelligence and AAAI. The symbolic gesture has set the tone for what is now called Pakistan’s most famous AI relationship to this day.
Jibran Jamshad, Microsoft’s regional director, also shared ideas on how AAAI’s global influence contributed to discoveries such as Chatgpt and other AI tools: “Without AAAI, the AI revolution we see today would not exist.
The official AAAI website for Pakistan will begin on August 14, 2025, at www.aaai.pk, providing entries, research access and Community updates. With the presence of military officials, academic leaders and corporate sponsors, this launch has marked a strong new era in Pakistan’s technological ecosystem, with the ability to create over $ 200 million in economic impacts and enhancing international cooperation and education.
