  • Thousands of children lose the vaccination campaign.
  • 27 children at national level confirmed that they have polio.
  • The new vaccination campaign is set from October 13th to 19th.

Karachi: About 35,000 parents in Sindh refused to take their children vaccinated against polio, with the majority of refusals reporting from the karachi.

The Pakistani Polio -Polio -Elimination Program, in collaboration with the extensive program for immunization (EPI), conducted vaccination campaign in 25 areas of the province from September 1 to 7.

The latest campaign had initially targeted 2.1 million children, but a significant number of children in Sindh, especially in Karachi, remained non -vaccinated, sources said.

Trusts added that of the total 35,000 refusals in the province, about 34,000 were reported by Karachi as parents refused to manage the vaccine to their children.

They said the largest number of refusals was reported by the eastern district of Karachi.

“Over 8,000 parents refused to administer a drops of polio vaccine to their children in the East area,” the sources revealed.

The revelation came just one day after Sindh recorded the seventh case of 2025 polio, with a child in the Hyderabad region confirmed that she has polio.

According to the regional reference laboratory for the elimination of polio at the Islamabad National Institute of Health (NIH), the last case included an eight -month -old girl from Hyderabad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) culminates in the list of 18 cases of polio, followed by seven cases of Sindh. Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan reported one case every year so far.

Meanwhile, another national vaccination campaign of polio will begin on October 13 and runs until October 19th.

Movement – involving more than 400,000 workers – aims to vaccinate about 45.4 million children across the country to protect polio.

The upcoming vaccination campaign will be followed by the National Emergency Business Center (NEOC) for the Sub -national Campaign of Poliovielitis, which took place earlier this month.

The vaccination move was held in 88 areas of the country, including Hyderabad, reaching about 21 million children under five years.

Polio is an extremely infectious and incurable disease that can cause lifelong paralysis.

The only effective protection is through repetitive doses of the oral polio vaccine (OPV) for each child under five years of age during each campaign, along with the timely completion of all the usual immunerations.
