ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Oil Tankers Contractors Association (APOTCA) has announced a countrywide strike for an indefinite period, in an attempt to force the government to meet its demands.
According to details, the association has asked the government to reduce income tax to 2% from 3%. The government hasn’t either accepted the demand or given the association time for a meeting.
The APOTCA wants a 50% quota in White Oil Pipeline seeking an even division in the supply of petroleum products, 50% by roads and 50% through the pipeline. The OMCs were supplying 60% diesel supply using pipeline and 40% via roads.
The APOTCA wants the government to bind oil companies to pay all dues owed to oil tanker owners within 15 days.
The association’s strike has sparked fears of a petrol crisis across the country.
