ISLAMABAD: The oil and gas regulatory authority (OGRA) announced on Sunday revised gas prices for the financial year 2025-26, alerting a 50% increase in fixed gas charges for domestic consumers, effective from 1 July.
“The federal government, responding to SNGPL’s OGRA identification [Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited] and ssgcl [Sui Southern Gas Company Limited] of the estimated revenue claim for FY 2025-26, informed the revised natural gas sales that have revised the category of natural gases from July 01, 2025, “said a notice issued by OGRA.
According to the notice, the federal government has increased the fixed fees for a protected category from RS400 to RS600, while those in the non -protected category will now pay RS1.500 from RS1,000.
For non -protected consumers whose natural gas consumption exceeds 1.5 cubic estimates (HM³), steady loads have increased from RS2,000 to RS3,000, he said.
Despite the increase in fixed charges, the actual gas invoices remain unchanged, the notification has clarified. Sale prices for both protected and non -protected domestic consumers, as well as for tandoors, commercial units, CNG stations and ice plants, will remain the same.
However, gas selling prices for general industries, power plants and independent energy producers have increased.
Growth came two days after the Council of Financial Coordination Committee (ECC) approved a revised natural gas pricing structure for the financial year 2025-26, allowing prices to be raised.
According to the decree of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Federal Government is obliged to alert the revised prices of consumer gases within 40 days of determination to ensure the recovery of costs and compliance with the regulatory regulatory.
The move is also aligned with building blocks that have agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including rationalizing prisoner invoices and shift from cross -performance in direct, targeted support for low -income consumers.
The ECC has decided to maintain gas prices for household consumers, with only fixed charges reconnected in the domestic sector to recover the cost of assets.
