Following the attack on Pahalgam, a city in Indian illegal occupied jam and Kashmir (Iiojk), which has claimed the lives of at least 26 innocent tourists, have resulted in strong reactions across India – including the cricket community.
Among those responded was BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, who made it clear that India would not play any bilateral cricket series with Pakistan.
The bilateral links between India and Pakistan have been suspended for years due to diplomatic tensions, and Shukla’s comments further confirm that the repetition is unlikely in the near future.
“We are with the victims and we condemn it,” Shukla told a local news channel.
“Whatever our government is, we will do so, we do not play with Pakistan in bilateral series because of the government’s attitude and we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals, but when it comes to the ICC event, we play because of the ICC commitment.
India and Pakistan have recently played a bilateral series in 2012-13. Since then, the two sides have only faced each other in ICC and ACC tournaments – including the latest meeting at ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
Minister BCCI Devajit Saikia also issued a statement, condemning the attack and offering condolences to the families of the victims.
“Cricket’s community is deeply shocked and agonized by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the horrible terrorist attack on Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of BCCI, while condemning this horrible and cowardly active with the strongest possible words, I expand our heartfelt.
