Security forces killed more than nine militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, security sources said on Tuesday (Geo News).

The operations were conducted in the Ziarat, Harnai and Surab districts under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.

A major operation was carried out in the mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai after a tip-off, the sources said. The militants’ hideout was surrounded and eight were killed, with the hideout destroyed.

In a separate operation in Hajika village in Surab district, one militant was killed. The sources said forces had traced militant movement between the Dasht Katai and Hajika areas.

The account comes from security sources rather than a formal ISPR statement. The casualty figures, the affiliations attributed to those killed and the descriptions of the engagements have not been independently verified, and no independent access to the sites has been reported.

The operations continue an intense run. Security sources have reported more than seventy militants killed across the province in roughly twelve days — in Khuzdar, Kharan, Mastung, Panjgur, Surab, Killi Zaik and now Ziarat and Harnai.

Set against that, the province’s civilian toll over the same period has been recorded with far less precision: six women shot dead in four districts with no suspects identified, two labourers killed by a roadside bomb near Quetta, seven miners abducted in Chagai and not recovered, and an ambush on the home minister’s convoy in Mastung in which the number of wounded was reported variously between three and seven.

Violence has risen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since 2021. The Centre for Research and Security Studies found the two provinces accounted for nearly 96 per cent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026.
