Former Pakistani Women’s Cricket team, Captain Nida Dar announced a temporary break from all forms of cricket to focus on his mental health, following what he described as a period of personal and professional challenges.
The 38-year-old All-Rounder made the announcement on social media late Thursday, attractive to privacy as he moves away from the game.
“Many things have happened with me personally and professionally in the past and this has influenced my mental health,” Dar wrote.
“For this reason, I take a break for a while from the cricket to focus on myself.
Dar, one of Pakistan’s most experienced players, represented her country on 130 international T20 and 99 internationals one day.
Known for its consistency and leadership, she recently returned to training to prepare the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifying Cup in Faisalabad.
However, he did not make the final team of 15 players after failing to respond to gymnastics.
In addition to leaving the international dispute, Dar has also retired from the upcoming T20 National Cup, choosing instead to make a complete break from the competitive cricket.
Her decision comes as Pakistan’s female team celebrated a successful qualifying campaign for the ICC Women’s World Cup, securing five straight wins and defeating Bangladesh with seven Wickets in their final match on April 19 at Lahore City Cricket.
While praising the team’s performance, Pakistani Cricket (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi reiterated that the national women’s team would not travel to India for the tournament, according to a previously agreed “hybrid model” similar to the one adopted for Trophy Champions Men’s.
“Pakistan will not travel to India, as this formula has already been agreed,” Naqvi said during a visit to LCCA Ground.
