  • VP families and victims’ families attend memorials at Ground Zero.
  • Nearly 3,000 people were killed in coordinated attacks at the World Trade Center.
  • Silence, Bell Tolls at 8:46 am To signal Time Flight 11 hit the North Tower.

New York prepared to mark the destructive attacks of September 11, 2001 on Thursday, 24 years after the deadly hijackers that claimed almost 3,000 lives and changed the United States forever.

Vice President JD Vance was expected to attend monuments at the Ground Zero in Manhattan, where the world towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed in coordinated attacks that also saw a jet aircraft crashed at the Nervous Center.

Another jet, flight 93, crashed into the Pennsylvani countryside when passengers exceeded the hijacker and took control of the aircraft.

This year’s gathering is taking place in a scene of a steep division of both the city and the national level.

New York is on the handle of an unprecedented campaign of Mayors in which Socialist Democratic Candidate Zohran Mamdani faces former governor Andrew Cuomo and the Mayor Eric Adams.

New Yorkers are going to polls on November 4.

It was not clear which of the candidates for the mayors would attend the ceremony always attended by the Mayor of the Sitiator and the leaders of the community.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked Mamdani, a Muslim and naturalized American citizen, calling him “communist noisy”, while a Republican legislator called for the pioneer of the fight to be deported.

Mamdani holds 22 points in the race, according to the latest polls by the New York Times and Siena.

“It was this horrible day that was also for many New York the moment they were marked by” another “,” Mamdani said Timedescribing the increase in Islamophobic attacks that followed on September 11th.

It was not clear whether Trump would attend New York commemorative events as it has in previous years.

The United States has faced a rash of political violence in recent months, with the assassination of the conservative influence of Charlie Kirk after the targeted murder of a democratic legislator of Minnesota and her husband and the fire of a democratic commander.

New York will mark a moment of silence throughout the city at 8:46 am (1246 GMT), the time of flight 11 hit the northern tower of the World Trade Center.

The places of worship all over the city will hear their bells to mark the impact as the families of the victims read the names of those killed in the Ground Zero.

The official number of deaths was 2,977, including passengers and crew of the four hijackers, victims of the twin towers, firefighters and staff at the Pentagon. The number of deaths excludes the 19 hihilateral Al-Qaeda.
