Pakistan hopes that the hospitality of the first major tournament cricket multiple countries in almost 30 years will help delete the concerns of instability in the country and restore confidence in it as tourism and investment destination.

Trophy Champions, which begins next week, comes to Pakistan, as the country fights many challenges, including a political crisis that sent the former prime minister and hero of Cricket, Imran Khan, to prison.

But the Government and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) believe that the elite of the one -day games that characterize the eight top teams in the world has one of the most powerful opportunities to create images for decades.

Cricket is a national passion in South Asia and an important-spinner in neighboring India.

“The return of the world cricket is not just about hosting racing,” said PCB president Mohsin Naqvi, who doubles as the country’s interior minister and head of security.

“This is about the restoration of pride, ignition of national passion and returning to millions that have remained in Pakistan Cricket.”

The country’s security environment has been alarmed since the US War in neighboring Afghanistan began in 2001. The country was struggling to persuade sports teams to visit when the gunmen attacked a bus carrying touches to Sri Lanka players in its city Lachoris in 2009. At least six players were injured and visits by international teams came in a sharp stop.

Security has been dramatically improved in large urban centers since then and overseas cricket teams have toured since 2018.

Trophy Champions will be the first big tournament to take place in Pakistan since 1996 and will include the homeland and teams from New Zealand, England, Australia, Afghanistan, South Africa, Bangladesh and India.

Everyone has agreed to play in Pakistan except India, who will play his games in Dubai, including his meeting with Pakistan, the last one in a historical rivalry.

The country is also navigating a difficult economic recovery, backed by a $ 7 billion installation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Naqvi said the tournament was a “monumental project” that included enormous improvements in logistics from roads and hotels in Security.

However, he said that the teams visiting were happy with the arrangements and the Cricket International Council (ICC) had received the Board of Directors’ security plan with “unanimous approval”.

‘Enhanced Security’

“Players are treated as government officials for improved security,” said Shahzada Sultan, Deputy Chief of Police for the Punjab province where two of Pakistan’s three spaces are located.

For Trophy Champions, police in Lahorei, Karachi and Rawalpindi and Islamabad cities have developed over 20,000 troops, including shooters on the roofs along the main routes. The hotels where the players will remain, the stadiums and airports will be kept strongly, as are the roads connecting these sites.

“Their movement guarantees the best box safety we can ever provide, with their routes under close surveillance,” the sultan added.

Fans from the participating countries are also expected to fly to Pakistan in a large number, but authorities have not revealed details of the number of visas issued.

Police said they would provide “iron” security to both players and supporters.

Punjab police said they had informed the surveillance systems and installed about 10,000 AI face recognition cameras and additional CCTV cameras in the two cities.

Karachi police said they have set up an additional SWAT unit to respond to emergency situations and conducted preventive intelligence operations to identify potential threats.

“The state of law and class is relatively better,” said Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.

Triumph in disaster

Pakistan hosted the Cricket World Cup as defenders in 1996 during a period of optimism for sports in the country.

The national team had triumphed in the previous edition under the leadership of Han, who is now behind the corruption bars.

The party and its supporters say the accusations are politically motivated. They have taken to the streets to protest and clash with security forces, adding instability to the country.

A spokesman for the Han party described the political climate as “suffocating”, but welcomed the return of international cricket and wishes the fate of the Pakistani national team.

While the tournament promises to stabilize the image of Pakistan, the partial absence of the leaders of the leaders of India means that it is not complete diplomatic success.

Their vibrant rivalry meant cricket matches between the two are one of the most watched sports competitions in the world, but they only play each other in multi -point events.

The Pakistani Cricket Board of Directors did not comment on questions about India, but former President Najam Sethi said India’s hospitality would be the final prize.

“This is a culmination of a long six -year trend of all coming to Pakistan … but the big thing will be when India and Pakistan play each other in Pakistan,” he said.

“I think it will be the great discovery.”
