KARACHI: Development work at the Karachi National Stadium is progressing apace as part of a major upgrade project aimed at transforming the venue ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan Cricket Chairman Mohsin Naqvi inspected the ongoing work on Wednesday, inspecting the almost-completed metal-framed building.

Key developments include the installation of new LED lights on the stadium’s goalposts to improve visibility and preparations for a laser light show aimed at ensuring an unforgettable experience for spectators.

Elevated electronic screens are installed to ensure an unobstructed view of the fans throughout the matches.

The project also includes relocating parking spaces closer to the stadium for improved accessibility and constructing new enclosures within the building.

Additionally, plans to install a moat between the seating area and the ground aim to improve crowd management and safety.

During his visit, Naqvi emphasized the importance of maintaining high quality standards while ensuring the project is completed within schedule.

“We must combine speed of work with excellence,” he observed, urging all involved to focus on on-time delivery.

Officials from the Border Works Organization (FWO), which is leading the construction efforts, briefed Naqvi on the progress of the renovation work.

PCB’s Director of Infrastructure and the manager of the National Stadium were also present during the inspection.

The upgrades are part of the PCB’s wider initiative to improve cricket infrastructure at the national level, ensuring that Pakistan is well prepared to host high-profile international tournaments.
