The timeless love story of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani unfolded decades ago on a busy street in Mumbai and is still an aspiration for many, according to Tribune India.

Mukesh Ambani recently revealed how he proposed to Nita Ambani while recalling the romantic proposal amid cars and horns. He said that his beloved lady Nita was “really his first girl” and decided to make her his life partner after only a few meetings.

Mukesh said he had taken Nita in the car and while driving through the traffic of Peddar Road, Mumbai, he took the opportunity to pop the question to Nita in the car.

At first, it surprised Nita, as expected of any girl in such a situation, but then she accepted.

However, their love story was not just a coincidence.

Nita, a professional Bharatanatyam dancer, was first spotted by Mukesh Ambani’s father, Dhirubhai Ambani, during one of her performances, who liked her as a match for his elder son, Anil.

However, a series of meetings gave Nita a chance to experience Mukesh’s humility and she was amazed.

The same happened with Mukesh, who was impressed with Nita’s beauty and nature, which led him to ask for her hand in marriage.

Although Nita, who was then earning her living as a professional dance teacher in a small school, had her qualifications and had wished to continue her profession after marriage, which the Ambanis obligingly granted her.

Nita later joined the Reliance Group as the chairman and founder of the Reliance Foundation and Dhirubhai Ambani International School, and as a director of Reliance Industries.
