After adding viral sensation Ahmad Shah and his host of adorable siblings to the roster of kids who frequent the Ramazan show, Waseem Badami recently extended an invitation to the wildly popular vlogger Shiraz, who is the face of his Shirazi villages vlogs channel on YouTube. Posting videos of the kid and welcoming him to the show, clips of Shiraz’s first appearance on the show were released as Waseem passed him the microphone to recite a naat.
While many love these children’s appearances on the show, there is little truth to the argument being made about the consequences of their exposure to the limelight and possibly extended working hours. Mishi Khan did the same on her Instagram.
“Why? Why? Why;” Mishi began in her caption alongside her Instagram video. “Why did you have to close Shiraz for Ramadan broadcast and take away its biological sweet innocence? Before it was Ahmad Shah who sounds like an adult now only because of the bad environment of the city. Leave the children alone and don’t take away their innocence for God’s sake,” Missy demanded.
In the video, she lamented, “It saddens me a lot that a kid, who became so famous on social media that his videos are watched with great interest in countries other than Pakistan, received a silver button from YouTube and reached the one million followers on Instagram – he’s so cute, he says such organic, innocent, sweet things. It saddens me that it is now part of a Ramadan broadcast. Can’t you find anyone else?”
He continued, “First, you destroyed Ahmad Shah’s innocence and turned him into an adult of the city. You are stealing their childhood. What did he need? He was already famous because of his own hard work. Like hawks, you have come in. The timings must be absurd. He is a child. He needs sleep. He must be awake at Sehri time and Iftari time to participate in the broadcast for the whole month. At least spare someone. Let someone remain organic and innocent. You bring him to the cities and start the absurdities you. I’m really sad.”
Mishi continued: “I also want to ask his father – he is already so famous. What was the need to agree to this? Did you care so much that he comes to town, does not sleep at all and engages in town talk, which erodes his innocence? What what kind of people are you?” Angry, Missy added: “Shame on you all.”
Her response to the addition of Shiraz to the Ramazan broadcast highlights the need to question whether children should be exposed to the limelight at such a young age. It also highlights the need to ensure that regulations are implemented in a way that prioritizes the welfare of the children involved.
