King Charles is expected to protect the royal family from themselves with a scathing statement
Royal expert Dr Tessa Dunlop has given a critical analysis of how the king’s younger brother, Prince Andrew, has created a big problem for the family amid his involvement with a Chinese spy.
Speaking about the long-term impact of Andrew’s friendship, Dr Dunlop notes: “All that secrecy and someone was always going to slip out.”
“It’s remarkable that we spent much of the year exclaiming how open Charles and Kate were to uttering the word ‘cancer’ when the operational reality of the monarchy remains a great mystery. Transparency is virtually non-existent. And the royal maze The maze, unfortunately, still includes Andrew, despite his proven lack of judgement… Andrew continues to attract all the wrong friends it was left to the Chinese government”.
The expert continued: “Even though I snapped during Epstein’s rampage, [Andrew] it still enjoys levels of protection from public scrutiny that the rest of us can only dream of. Decades later, Andrew’s time as a trade envoy cannot be investigated because as king he is afforded special protection. (Access to his archives is prohibited until 2065). A Freedom of Information (FOI) request won’t yield results either: royals are exempt from FOI law. Even the “non-working” princes play by different rules. Obviously, their privacy is more important than the public interest.”
“Increased transparency about royal funding and vested interests, and fewer exemptions from scrutiny, would put the royal family on a similar footing to other public institutions. In the long term, a more open monarchy would increase trust while protecting against risks of external malevolent forces and would protect the royals from themselves’.
