Kevin Smith, a famous actor and director, recently opened up about working with movie producer Harvey Weinstein on his 1997 movie “Sleeper hit.” Chasing Amy.

He shares his thoughts in Sav Rodger’s new documentary Chasing AmySmith shared his “complicated feeling” about Weinstein and how he felt about him (Weinstein) watching the film.

Recalling his reaction, Smith said, “He’s crying, Harvey. And he’s like, ‘This is a Miramax movie.'” Which I loved at the time.

The 54-year-old director added, “You know, I thought he was who I thought he was,” and continued, “Now, put it through the filter of what we know, hard to get emotional about it. .”

“Maybe that’s how emotional I am — I’m like, ‘How sweet.’ Like, this naive, 26-, 27-year-old, he just believed everything that was presented to him,” quipped Smith.

THE Secretaries The star also pointed out that Weinstein “had dollar signs in his eyes” when Chasing Amy premiered at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival.

He stated that everyone was excited and “it would be great if it stayed that way. This is Sundance ’97. So if you go by the Harvey Weinstein case … this is the year with Rose McGowan.”

Smith mentioned that it all happened when they were “making Chasing Amy — they were showing this movie to the world that is very feminist and forward-thinking.”

Additionally, he continued to lament his collaboration with Weinstein on various projects, including his directorial debut Employee in 1993.

“I can’t erase the past. I can’t go back and take his name off the f—ing movies. I don’t even own the movies. I can’t undo the fact that my career is tied to him,” concluded Smith ruefully.

It is pertinent to mention that Weinstein, a former film producer who is also a convicted felon, is currently in prison serving a 23-year sentence for assault and battery.
