Jessica Simpson is reportedly ‘heartbroken’ over her split from husband Eric Johnson.
It was recently leaked by an insider Us Weekly that it was “an incredibly difficult time” for the mother of three.
“[It was] it’s not an easy decision for her,” the source said on Friday.
Another source confirmed that the couple are “living separately at the moment”.
A third source shared with the paper that Simpson, 44, and Johnson, 45, are “trying to understand a separation without disrupting their children’s lives as much as possible.”
The couple is “still figuring things out,” the insider finally noted.
Johnson sparked divorce rumors last week when the retired footballer ditched his wedding ring for a leisurely stroll with his parents on Tuesday.
On the same day, a source said Page six that he and Simpson also avoided attending their children’s school functions together.
“In years past, Jess always attended school events either solo or with Eric, never [him] single. But recently, it’s just been Eric,” the insider told us.
“As you can imagine, there was a lot of gossip among the parents.”
While the former San Francisco 49ers tight end recently left his ring behind, Simpson has been missing her wedding ring for months in photos posted on her social media.
However, another insider previously hinted in February that Jessica’s no-ring gesture was a common sight when they were fighting.
“When Jessica and Eric fight, the ring goes away,” the source said Life & Styleadding that her reasoning is that it “makes her feel like a fraud wearing her ring if they don’t get along.”
Simpson and Johnson have daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, and son Ace, 11. The now-estranged couple married in July 2014.
The fashion designer was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006.
