Jennifer Garner has finally opened the gates for a rare look at her $7.9 million Los Angeles farmhouse.
In a recent Architectural Digest video, the 13 Continued 30 The star gave a tour of her Los Angeles Hills property she built after she and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce in 2018.
The mom of three often talked about her kids and their friends using the space, designed by husband-and-wife architect and interior design team Steve and Brooke Giannetti.
Designer Laura Putnam also contributed to the project by turning the actress’ dream of a “new, warm, family home” into reality, she revealed.
Garner, 52, insisted that while she is generally a “private person”, her intention is far from showing off. “I’ve never made anything myself before and I’m so proud of it,” she gushes.
“I am filled with gratitude every time I enter my home to live here. That I am so lucky to have my children here. Well, it’s not like me, and yet, I’m so happy to share it with you.”
Elsewhere in the video, she added, “I looked and looked for a house to move into, but I needed privacy, and any house that had privacy was grander than I was comfortable with,” she explained.
The Garner estate is home to “fun custom features” in addition to a sleepover party room, a Harry Potter– themed shelter for Samuel, a saltwater aquarium and a reading nook with a pair of stained glass windows. Her living room features a wall of glass that slides smoothly to reveal a deck and pool.
“I like having a place that’s fair, where kids can be kids,” she said of her three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom she welcomed with Affleck, as well 52 years old.
The farmhouse also has a backyard orchard where peaches, cherries, apples and more are grown with a sustainable greywater system that filters water from the home’s washing machine and dishwasher.
Meanwhile, her “veg house” grows kale, thyme, tomatoes, string beans and more. “I wanted it to feel old and cool and historic, but I also wanted to make it work for a big family with a lot going on,” Garner explained. ADVERTISING.
The tour comes after reports of ex-husband Affleck’s $68 million marital home with Jennifer Lopez, 55, failing to sell despite being on the market for two months.
According to her Zillow The estate, called Crestview Manor, features a 38,000-square-foot home with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, as well as a “spacious 12-car garage and parking for 80 vehicles.”
The property includes a sports complex with “basketball and pickleball courts, a fully equipped gym, a boxing ring, a sports lounge and a bar.”
However, one West Coast real estate investor is of the opinion that the Beverly Hills mansion is “actually worth between $40 and $50 million.”
“When it was built, it had been on the market for years and listed at $147 million ($100 million), so maybe [Affleck and Lopez] they thought they got a deal to buy him for $61 million. But remember, they also put in millions to renovate it to their liking,” the source said NewsNation.
The source also explained that its “terrible location” and “silly amenities” have just completely muddied its value.
“It’s in a terrible location … it’s a gated community with no guard. Most homes in the area are from the 1970s and are worth between $5 million and $10 million. This is just a huge white elephant. It’s weird, too big and dated with amenities that are just silly and not necessary.” referring to the indoor sports complex.
“The house is ugly. It was built in 2001 by a mediocre developer with just bad taste in architecture… it’s a mix of styles with a false French roof,” the source added.
