Karachi: Pakistan’s star Javelin Thrower Arshad Nadeem is expected to clash with Neeraj Chopra of India at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia, Poland on August 16th.

This long -awaited faceoff marks their first meeting from the Paris Olympics, where Nadeem secured gold with a remarkable 92.97 -meter throw, while Chopra claimed silver with 89.45 meters. Grenada’s Anderson Peters put the bronze medal with 88.54 m.

Nadeem’s participation in the Silesia event follows his recent decision to retire from World Athletics Silver Tour on July 15 in Switzerland.

The rivalry is intensifying as Nadeem is also scheduled to compete in another Diamond League event in Zurich on August 27, possibly putting the scene for another match with Chopra.

In a recent interaction of the media, Nadeem opened for his decision to skip the event, reporting concerns about injuries.

“I decided to retire from the Swiss event due to a pressure on my calf I lived during training here,” Nadeem said while speaking in the media in Lahore.

“I don’t want the executive to worsen, so this decision is in the interest of my long -term gym.”

Nadeeem emphasized that his main focus remained at the World Sports Championships, scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan in September.

“My whole focus is at the World Championship, which will take place in Tokyo in September,” he said. “I am leaving for London on July 14 to continue training in a more appropriate environment.

“I think the quality of training and recovery in England will prepare me well for both the Diamond League and the World Championship.”
