The Israeli army told the Palestinians in the city of Gaza to leave for the south on Saturday before bombarding a tall tower as its forces go deeper into the largest urban area of the enclave.
Israeli forces carried out an attack on the suburbs of the northern city for weeks after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to arrest it.
The attack threatens to shift hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have been protecting there from nearly two years of battle. Before the war, about one million people, almost half of the Gaza population, lived in the city.

Israeli military spokesman Avicay Adraee wrote in X that residents should leave the city for a defined coastal area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, assuring those who leave that they could receive food, medical care and refuge there.
The designated area was a “humanitarian zone”, Adraee said.
The army later bombed a tall tower of the city of Gaza that said it was used by Hamas, without providing evidence to support the claim and that citizens warned in advance.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz shared a video on X from what seems to be the high -rise building that collapses after the strike, sending a cloud of dust and debris in the air.
It was not immediately clear if there were losses.
The Israeli army said Hamas used the building to gather information and that the explosive devices had been planted nearby. Hamas refused to use the building for military purposes, and the Palestinians said he was used to protecting the displaced.
Prior to the strike, Gazan’s health authorities said at least 23 Palestinians were killed on Saturday, including at least 13 in the Gaza city area.Heavy strikes
The Israeli army bombed another tall tower on Friday that it also said it was used by Hamas.
On Thursday, the army said he had control of almost half of the city of Gaza. He says he controls about 75% of all gauze.
Israel has pledged to seize the city, where its forces are moving through the exterior suburbs and are now a few miles from the city center.
Many of those in the city of Gaza were transferred to the war earlier to return later. Some residents said they refuse to displace them again.
The army has been striking in the city for weeks, moving through the exterior suburbs, and this week the forces were within a few kilometers from the city center.
Netanyahu, backed by the allies of the right -wing coalition, ordered the arrest of the city of Gaza against the advice of Israel’s military leadership, according to Israeli officials. Despite his hesitation, the army has called tens of thousands of backups to support the operation.
The war in Gaza has been increasingly removed from Israel diplomatically isolated, with some of its nearest allies condemning the campaign that has destroyed the small territory.
Amnesty International on Friday urged Israel to stop its attack on the city of Gaza and the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, warning that the army had destroyed the houses and killed “many citizens” in recent days.
All-or-notting agreement
The Palestinian fighters took 251 hostages to the pocket after a cross -border attack led by Hamas in the southern Israeli communities on October 7, 2023, who killed about 1,200 people.
More than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since then, local health authorities say, with much of the pockets being reduced to ruins and its residents facing a humanitarian crisis.

There are also increasing calls to Israel, led by the families of hostages and their supporters, to end the war in a diplomatic agreement that will ensure the release of the remaining 48 prisoners.
Israeli officials believe that 20 of the hostages are alive.
Netanyahu is pushing for an agreement that would see all the hostages that were released at the same time and Hamas to deliver.
A video released by Hamas on Friday showed two captives, one of which said they were held in the city of Gaza and feared to be killed in Israel’s attack on the urban center.
Israeli military officials say they have killed many major Hamas leaders and thousands of its fighters, reducing the Palestinian fighter team to guerrilla force.
Hamas offered to release some hostages for a temporary ceasefire, similar to terms discussed in July before the US and Arab states negotiations collapsed.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington was in “very deep” negotiations with Palestinian fighters.
Hamas, who has ruled Gaza for almost two decades, but today only controls parts of the enclave, has long stated that she would release all hostages if Israel has agreed to end the war and withdraw all its forces from Gaza.
